rose thorn

my heart has been torn
by the razor-sharp thorn
of the rose called love
and now i feel pain that is unheard of

my heart is ragged, torn, and bleeding
and filled with a terrible urge, a painful needing
this feeling inside is tearing me apart,
as the rose's thorn sinks deeper into my heart

and you ask 'who could do such things?'
'who could stab with a rose and laugh at the pain it brings?'
it was a girl whose laugh could pacify the wildest dogs
and whose smile could lead you through the densest fogs

but look at her right hand and you'll see that i mourn,
because she is the one holding the bloody rose's thorn...
